Charities & Affiliations

We make a living by what we get. We make a life by what we give. -Sir Winston Churchill

Below is a growing list of people who are helping us at Happy Lady Productions, as well as the charitable organizations that we support.

Charitable Organizations

Gabriel’s Angels: We just can’t bark enough about this organization. Founded and run by Pam Gaber, Gabriel’s Angels is helping children overcome huge obstacles through the amazing gift of pet therapy. We donated in full the manuscript, Dogs Are… Just Like You!, available for sale in the Spring of 2013. To learn more about Gabriel’s Angels, please visit their website here.

AAWL: Arizona Animal Welfare League & SPCA: This amazing animal shelter is one of the best no-kill organizations in the country by any standard. A multi-million dollar renovation means the animals are getting the very possible care. We have adopted several dogs from them over the years. Lily, a chihuahua mix, is one of the latest adoptees by our extended family, and she is fabulous! Please visit their shelter if you live in Arizona. Adopt a dog wherever you are and whenever you can.

Cavalier Rescue Trust: We are delighted to be assisting this rescue organization. The American Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Rescue Trust (The Trust) was organized to benefit Cavaliers in need who have been lost, abandoned or are unwanted, to provide a cohesive, nationwide network of rescue volunteers and to provide public education in an effort to reduce the number of Cavaliers that come into rescue. The Trust is organized under IRS Section 501(c) (3) providing donors with federal income tax deductions, to the extent allowed by IRS. Further, The Trust provides insurance covering the activities of its volunteer workers following the guidelines set down by The Trust.

Cavalier Rescue Foundation: Our darling ‘very red and very curious Lucy’ comes from this rescue group and we will always be thankful for their great work, especially that of Lucy’s foster mother, Katherine. The Foundation places dogs in the Phoenix area.

The Elephant Sanctuary, Tennessee: This wonderful refuge in Tennessee is the largest elephant sanctuary in the United States. Meet all the elephants by name – and you can support individual elephants and get a regular report on their progress. We first learned sanctuary of the sanctuary because of all the attention it received about the unusual, deep and beautiful friendship between elephant Tara and a rescue dog named Bella. A portion of the proceeds of our book, Limericks by The Brothers Randolph,  will help support this wonderful institution.

Great Resources

Dima Yeremenko, The dog whisperer of North London, Good Boy Dog School.

Dima has a magic touch -  but, unlike many trainers, he is able to communicate to owners his truly effective training techniques – based on Handfeeding – that he has perfected over the last thirty years. Our owner, Emily Randolph, wrote his first book with him, Dima’s Dog School, now in it’s second edition, and Happy Lady Productions has three more books in production with Dima.

Yulia is a triple threat: a dog photographer, dog handler and dog trainer – so she has a very unique ability to photograph dogs in a way that really shows them as their true, wonderful selves. You will often see Yulia’s photos in our blogs, as well as in our book projects, in particular, Handfeeding Handbook: 5 Steps to a Well-Trained, Happy Dog by Dima Yeremenko and Emily Randolph (December 2012)

Our dog books, both It’s a King’s Life and Some Days You’re the Dog are both sold on Lewis & Barks’ website, a unique company that offers products for people who love taking adventures with their dogs. Please check them out as it was started by a friend of ours, Karen Marvel, who writes:

My love for all animals began at an early age. My dad was a country veterinarian, who, later in life, worked as a pathologist at Iowa State University Veterinary Medical School. He exemplified “The Gentle Doctor,” a sculpture standing at Iowa State representing “the bond between people and animals, and overall concern, affection, love, and the significance of life for all of God’s creatures – great and small.”

Our family portraits and events included the “fur” kids, and Dad kept these important memories alive with home movies. Once he nurtured 12 orphaned St. Bernard puppies from birth to adoption—we were involved in their growth from nightly bottle-feedings to the size of small ponies. Check our home movie!

This Lewis and Barks site, dedicated to Dad, is for dog lovers everywhere—to exchange ideas and experiences about their co-adventures and to share products for the safety and well-being of their best friends.
